Nary Manivong

Yesterday I had the opportunity to work at the fashion show for local designer Nary Manivong last night. It was such an amazing show and experience. His collection, inspired by the women and beauty of Louise, Paris, was about being able to transition pieces from a day of walking the markets to a night in the city. He used a lot of neutrals and cooler tones in different shades of blue and green and a few pops of pale pink, making it sophisticated yet fun and chic. And one of my favorite parts of the line was all of the looks were paired with vans to really play up how all the clothes can be casual or dressed up. While I didn't get to watch the show, I did get to be backstage and work with the lead stylist Molly, Nary, and all the models in preparing the looks and sending the models out on the runway. I'm so thankful for this experience and can't wait for more in the future. Keep reading to see more pictures from behind the scenes.

Career Fairs

Top: H&M | Pants: H&M (Similar) | Shoes: Steve Madden (Similar)

Ah career fairs, or reality check fairs as I like to think of them, are an integral part of being halfway through college. You go and walk through a huge room full of potential employers and basically flirt with them to find internships and jobs. Sounds great right? And just like interviews, figuring out what to wear to them can be a hassle. You want to look professional but at the same time it needs to be practical for a day of class, especially now that there is snow on the ground. I decided to throw on some plaid dress pants and a boxy turtleneck, missing just the right amount of business and casual.

Style Idol | Rachel Green

Now that F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is on Netflix, it has been one of the most talked about topics on my news feed. I've been watching the show for years (I owned all the seasons on DVD before it was Netflix-ed)  and I love that people are finally recognizing the genius of the show. All of the buzz inspired me to dedicate this Style Idol, that I haven't done since I gushed over Ariana Grande in July, post to none other than icon Rachel Green. Rachel's style was every girls dream and inspiration in the 90s. Even her hair became a huge trend.  Everyone wanted "The Rachel", well except for my mom, she wanted "The Monica". Keep reading for my favorite looks from the iconic show.

Overall Ease

Overalls: American Eagle (Similar) | Top: H&M | Boots: Cole Haan (Similar)

Depending on the day of the week, I can have very little time to get dressed. This is when owning a pair of overalls comes in handy. They can be thrown on in a jiffy before you have to run out the door and the come in a variety of fabrics and styles so you can wear them for class, work, or a night out.

Jean Tights

Dress: H&M (Similar) | Jeans: Topshop | Jacket: H&M (Similar) | Shoes: Steve Madden (Similar)

What a weird concept right? Jeans under a dress. This idea has been floating around and I have been wanting to try it out so I figured what better time than in the winter when layering is key. After wearing this around for a bit, I have come to the conclusion that I really liked the look and wanted to share it! And another plus was how warm I ended up being (because that's all i think about when getting dressed nowadays). Make sure if you do choose to rock this look that you style it with a slip dress like I did or something with a similar silhouette.

Style Tips | January

January in Ohio is one of the worst things to deal with, not to mention it's a killer for any kind of fashionable ensemble. Between subzero temps and trekking through the snow to class, I live by the motto "Sorry for what I wore when I was cold". Most days, looking cute takes a backseat to the practicality of staying warm and avoiding the frostbite. I decided to take a deeper look into these cold weather essentials for my style tips this month because in times like this, it's what's on the outside that counts.

Monkey Business

Sweatshirt: Fresh Tops

Anyone who knows me and has ever received a text from me knows that I love my emojis, especially these cheeky little monkeys. My sister got me this sweatshirt for my birthday and needless to say I am obsessed with it. And it's also one of the softest sweatshirts I own, which makes it even better. I just got back from a weekend in New York and while it was such an amazing trip, it's time to get back into the swing of things. Make sure to check out my Instagram to see what I got up to on my trip!
