Teen Vogue Fashion U: Part One

I had the amazing opportunity to go to New York City and take part in Teen Vogue Fashion U. For those of you not familiar with the program, it has been put on for the past few years and gives budding fashionistas the opportunity to attend seminars and learn the ropes of the business. It was like living a dream getting to skip school and go to New York for the weekend. Although I had to get up super early to catch my flight I was so excited. I had never flown by myself before so that was quite an adventure in itself, but I won’t bore you with the boring details. Lets get to the good stuff right? I met my mom and aunt in LaGuardia Airport and we took quite a queasy cab ride into the city. Our hotel, The Casablanca, was right off of Times Square and was the cutest hotel I had ever stayed in.

The central theme of the hotel was inspired by the movie Casablanca so naturally it had a very olden days feel to it, I would definitely recommend staying there if given the chance. Friday passed in a whirlwind of figuring out the subway, large frozen hot chocolates at Serendipity, and exploring the sweet world of Dylan’s Candy Bar.

That evening though was where the real fun began. The kick off event for the program was held at Express and was a private shopping event inside the store. They had the cutest little appetizers and drinks (non alcoholic of course), and you got to mingle with some of the editors of Teen Vogue as well as some other notable fashion celebrities. Shopping and schmoozing? What could be better!

After this event, my mom, aunt, and I went to see the Broadway musical Newsies. As a lover of the 90’s movie, I have been dying for the chance to see the stage show and it did not disappoint one bit. I have never seen so many talented boys in one show, and they weren’t too hard on the eyes either. I also got to meet a few of the cast members after the show and get pictures and autographs, which was like a dream come true. If you are ever in New York and are trying to pick a show to see, I would not give overlook this show for a second.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s installment to see more of my fabulous weekend at Teen Vogue.
